Wright County Egg issued a statement pointing to an outside supplier as a possible source of contamination. One of the salmonella findings was in bone meal that is commonly used as a mineral supplement in hen feed. Industry experts say the cooking process used to produce bone meal should destroy any bacteria if done properly.
